Yeonhwa Hur

Yeonhwa Hur (b. 1988 in Korea) is a multimedia artist whose creative practice revolves around the exploration of physical limitations by delving into the realm of water. By fully immersing herself in water, she celebrates its fluidity, seeking to unravel its mysteries. While initially trained in sculpture, and having earned a BFA from Hongik University, Hur soon embarked on a creative journey that traversed two and three dimensions, embracing diverse mediums such as sculpture, painting, print, and installations. Her ultimate aspiration is to create a space that is devoid of boundaries and restrictions, much like the endless nature of water itself. The fluidity of water and her deep connection to it is used as a portal to explore mysterious aspects of human experience. Her work is inspired by bodily sensations she feels in water, which connects various aspects of existence to her artistic endeavors.

Her work has been exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and art institutions in Korea and Japan, including Daelim Museum, Bucheon Culture Foundation, POSCO Art Museum, Yangpyeong Art Museum, Post Territory Ujeongguk, Insa Art Space, Parplume Gallery, Seojung Art, Perigee Gallery, Shinsegae Gallery, and Whistle.
